Biography

Caterina Meldolesi (1996) graduated the Bachelor's and Master’s Degree courses in Singing with full marks, honours, and honourable mention at the "Santa Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome under the guidance of Sara Mingardo. She studied at the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino YAP in 2020-2022. She currently is an emerging artist at Fondazione Mascarade Opera.
She won the Prize Boris Hristov and was awarded with several contracts in 2024/2025 season by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and the Teatro Coccia di Novara at International Competition Voci Verdiane "Città di Busseto" in 2023. She was awarded with the role of Verdi’s Luisa Miller at the AsLiCo International Singing Competition in January 2023. In 2022 she won the Extraordinary prize offered by Internationale OpernWerkstatt at the Tenor Vinas International Singing Competition.

In 2021, she debuted the role of La Fanciulla in Giordano’s Siberia at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Gianandrea Noseda, Roberto Andò), the role of Cabri in Mozart’s Betulia liberata at the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza. She was Annina in Verdi’s La traviata (Zubin Mehta, Davide Livermore) and Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Teatro Goldoni in Florence. In 2022, she sang Caterina in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Rosetta Cucchi, Riccardo Frizza). She debuted in the Symphonic Season of the theatre as a soloist in the contemporary piece Per lo corpo luce by Luca Francesconi. She covered the role of Anna in Puccini’s Le Villi at the Festival Toscanini in Parma with the conduction of Omer Meir Wellber, debuted the title role of Verdi’s Aida at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and "jumped in" with short notice as Lidia in Scarlatti’s Cambise at the Theater Kiel.

Selected as the only young Italian artist by the prestigious Belcanto Academy Georg Solti 2022 where she studied with Richard Bonynge and Jonathan Papp, she sang Ines in Il trovatore conducted by Zubin Mehta and directed by Cesare Lievi at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. She joined the Internationale OpernWerkstatt in Switzerland, performing in different arias from Il trovatore (Leonora), Aida (Aida), Don Carlo (Elisabetta), Die Walküre (Ortlinde), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), Pagliacci (Nedda) in Bern, Zürich, Basel and Wiesbaden. In 2023 she was in a tournée in South Africa with the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino singing arias from Aida, Il trovatore, Nabucco and La bohème in Pam Golding Theatre (Cape Town), at Great hall of WITS University (Johannesburg) and Durban Playhouse.

In October 2023 she debuted the title role of Luisa Miller at the Teatro Sociale in Como and at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia. In June 2024, she sings the principal role of the new composition, Mother, by Davide Tramontano (2023 winner of the "2 Agosto" International Composing Competition), which will be presented at the Fondazione Teatri Piacenza. In September 2024 she will debut the role of Tosca with Orquestra de Cambra de Mallorca.
