Biography

Paolo Nevi was born in Narni in 1997, and his career in opera music began during his high school years at the Liceo Musicale in Terni. He then continued his studies at the Conservatory of Parma under the guidance of Nemi Bertagni, graduating with top honors in opera singing in 2019. That same year, he had the opportunity to join the prestigious Accademia Teatro alla Scala.

Throughout his career, Paolo has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Pavarotti Foundation Prize and the Young Male Talent Prize at the Etta and Paolo Limiti Competition at Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, as well as the Best Under 25 Award at the CLIP International Opera Competition in Portofino, both in 2019.

Paolo has already debuted in important roles in many productions, performing characters such as Nemorino in L'elisir d’amore by Donizetti at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Don Ramiro in La cenerentola by Rossini at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and Il Conte di Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini at the Festival Ticino in Musica in Lugano and at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. He has also played Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto by Cimarosa, Edmondo in Manon Lescaut by Puccini, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart, and Cavalier Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims by Rossini at the Rossini Opera Festival. Among other roles, he has sung Zio Vezinet in Il cappello di paglia di Firenze by Rota, Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod, Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart, and Abate in Andrea Chénier by Giordano, all at Teatro alla Scala.

He has had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with some of the most renowned professionals in the field, including Marcelo Álvarez, Luca Salsi, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Francesco Meli, Pietro Spagnoli, and Gregory Kunde.

Among his recent and upcoming engagements: Nemorino in L'elisir d’amore and Beppe in Pagliacci at the Wexford Festival, the Gala Lirico organized by the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Providence with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. He also debuted in the world premiere of Opera Amore, a new composition with dramaturgy by Alberto Mattioli, direction by Francesco Micheli, and music by Federico Gon, a production by the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture. He debuted the role of Dorvil in La scala di seta by Rossini at the Teatro Coccia in Novara and will return to the Rossini Opera Festival in the summer of 2025 to perform as Eacide in Zelmira. He will also make his debut at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari with Franz Joseph Haydn's Missa in tempore belli. He will again sing Il Conte in Il barbiere di Siviglia with baroque ensemble Stella Matutina. Additionally, he will debut as Federico Frengel in Stiffelio at the Teatro di Piacenza, the Teatro Comunale di Modena, and the Teatro di Reggio Emilia, and will take on the role of Ernesto in Don Pasquale at the Opéra de Nice.
