Concept

Vivaldi’s works for the theater reveal musical and dramatic architectures that were very innovative for the time in which they were written. If we think about the ample employ of female singers casted in the operas especially as protagonists, even in male roles, while castratos were to sing the most spectacular arias only is specific moments of the story we can imagine a quite different outcome in comparison to the works of most of his contemporaries. This can apply also to the orchestral writing with the introduction of new colours, figurations and daring harmonic passages that remains unique for that period. This programme guides the audience in the discovery of this vocal works with some of the his most exciting solo concertos that we can imagine as the model of inspiration for the theatre of the Red Priest.
